Julie Nagel, a teacher in the Casa Grande Elementary School district, calls Anticipatory Set and Closure the two bookends of a lesson. This is certainly supported by research that says we are most likely to remember what we hear at the beginning of a lesson and at the end of a lesson.
Anticipatory Set primes the student's mind for learning by accessing prior knowledge and actively engaging their brains.
